16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

The Health Service Commission joins the global community in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, observed annually from 25 November to 10 December. This year’s theme, #EndDigitalViolenceAgainstAllWomenAndGirls, highlights the urgent need to address emerging forms of abuse taking place in online spaces.

Gender-Based Violence, whether physical, emotional, economic, or digital, remains a serious human rights violation and a barrier to health, safety, and wellbeing. Digital violence, including cyberbullying, online harassment, non-consensual image sharing and AI-generated deepfakes, continues to expose women and girls to new risks that demand decisive action.

As the employer of health care professionals, the Health Service Commission reaffirms its commitment to building a health sector that is safe, inclusive and free from all forms of violence. We pledge to protect and empower our workforce by strengthening awareness, promoting prevention, enhancing reporting mechanisms, and fostering a culture of respect across all institutions.

During these 16 Days of Activism, we call upon all health care workers and stakeholders to stand together, support survivors, challenge harmful behaviours, and play an active role in creating workplaces and communities where women and girls can thrive without fear.

Together, let us speak out.

Together, let us act.

Together, we can end digital violence.#EndDigit
