STATION : PARIRENYATWA GROUP OF HOSPITALS 

                                                  (PGH) & INGUTSHENI CENTRAL HOSPITALS

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing clinical services, ensuring high quality care, policy compliance, staff management, patient safety and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Give direction and leadership to all clinical services within the hospital
  • Develop, implement and enforce clinical policies and protocols to enhance patient safety and care quality
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical services, driving continuous improvement in healthcare delivery
  • Make critical decisions about patient care, clinical protocols, and resource allocation in collaboration with senior medical and administrative staff
  • Provide guidance on best practices and professional development 
  • Utilise clinical data to make informed decisions, improve outcomes and ensure efficiency in service delivery
  • Monitor adherence to protocols such as infection control, medication safety and patient handling
  • Promote and implement evidence based clinical practices 
  • Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Collaborate with other Directorates to ensure safe clinical practices 
  • Initiate strategies to improve quality by promoting medical audit throughout the hospital and encourage the development of evidence based clinical practice and research
  • Promote and support clinical initiatives within the institution fostering an environment of innovation and evidence
  • Encourage and support the continuous professional development (CPD) of clinical staff, including organizing training sessions, workshops and opportunities for further education
  • Participate in the selection and appointment of staff as required
  • Participate in disciplinary processes associated with professional matters for medical staff acting in accordance with agreed and appropriate procedures
  • Delegate duties to subordinates, monitoring and assessing performance of subordinates, giving advice and on job training, appraising staff and checking compliance
  • Implement performance appraisal systems to assess and improve the performance of clinical staff, identifying areas for skill development or intervention
  • Mentor and supervise senior clinical healthcare staff
  • Supervise and support medical staff, ensuring alignment with hospital goals and standards

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of surgery (MBCHB) degrees or equivalent
  • Consultant/Specialist in a medical field for at least 5 years with good standing. 
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an administrative/management position in medical/ clinical areas is essential.
  • Previous attendance/participation in a management development programme will be an added advantage.
  • Must be on the Specialist register of the Medical & Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). 
  • Outstanding analytical, conceptual and interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented, assertive and ability to communicate at all levels
