The Minister of Health and Child Care, Douglas Mombeshora, has officially launched Lenacapavir in Epworth, marking a significant milestone in the country’s fight against HIV.
Lenacapavir is a groundbreaking long-acting injectable for HIV prevention, administered once every six months, offering a powerful alternative to daily oral PrEP and improving adherence, convenience, and protection for those at substantial risk of infection.
The Health Service Commission was represented at the launch by Commissioner Josephine Mwakutuya and Commissioner Mercy Sibongile Gwaunza, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to strengthening the health workforce and supporting innovative, evidence-based interventions.
The introduction of Lenacapavir expands Zimbabwe’s HIV prevention toolkit and reinforces Government’s resolve to end HIV and AIDS as a public health threat.
