The Government of Zimbabwe, in partnership with a Chinese medical delegation, has launched a cataract surgery camp at Sekuru Kaguvi Eye Hospital. Led by Chief Government Ophthalmologist Dr Boniface Macheka, the initiative aims to provide free cataract surgeries to 600 patients, offering them a new lease on life.
“This program is a game-changer for many Zimbabweans suffering from cataracts. Our goal is to restore sight and improve the quality of life for as many people as possible,” said Dr. Macheka.
Dr. Hong Xiuqin, Dean of Clinical Medical College at Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in healthcare: “Through this partnership, we bring not just medical expertise but also hope to those in need. We are honoured to work alongside Zimbabwean specialists to make a lasting impact.”
