The Tonsillectomy Surgical Camp kick starts at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital. The aim of the camp is to accelerate access to quality surgical services in Zimbabwe and will run for five days free of charge. The camp has been made possible through efforts from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, World Health Organization and Government of Japan. A tonsillectomy is surgery to remove the tonsils. Tonsils are lumps of tissue on both sides of the back of the throat that help the immune system protect the body from infections.
