The Health Service Commission (HSC) has made significant progress in its Job Evaluation Exercise for Zimbabwe’s Public Health Sector, launched in July 2024. With support from MBB Consultancy, the exercise has moved through key stages, including Job evaluation awareness, Role Clarification and Job Description drafting.
Currently, the exercise is in the Job Description Validation phase, involving over 829 jobs across all health professional categories. Supervisors and jobholders are reviewing draft job descriptions to ensure accuracy in job scope, responsibilities, qualifications, and skills, among other things. This phase is expected to end on October 31, 2024.
The next step is Job Grading which is expected to set a fair grading structure to promote equitable recognition and progression for health workers. The HSC is committed to creating a more valued and efficient workforce for Zimbabwe’s health sector.
