The Health Service Commission is embarking on a pivotal journey as it convenes in Kadoma for its Strategic Plan 2021-2025 Review meeting. This gathering which also includes key stakeholders serves as a platform to reflect on the milestones achieved and the challenges encountered throughout the dynamic landscape of 2023 and chart the operational plan for 2024.
In his keynote address, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora, said the meeting holds significant importance in defining the trajectory of healthcare for the upcoming years. He underscored the need to redefine the Health Service Commission’s focus and contribution, aligning with the goals and aspirations outlined in National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and Vision 2030.
He also emphasized the importance of crafting the 2024 operational plan with meticulous attention, identifying priorities that will drive the Nation towards the realization of national healthcare objectives and enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality across Zimbabwe.
Health Service Commission Chairperson Dr. Vincent Hungwe highlighted the need for a holistic approach embedded in the strategic plan, aligned with the National Health Strategy (NHS) 2021-2025. This approach prioritizes not only disease treatment but also prevention, promotion, and health system strengthening. He said collaboration with government agencies, stakeholders, and partners is paramount as HSC implements evidence-based policies, conduct rigorous assessments, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to all Zimbabweans.
