The Health Service Commission (HSC) joined Workers’ representatives in commemorating Workers’ Day held at Girls High School in Harare under the theme, “Honouring the Dignity of Labour: Defending Workers’ Rights, Fair Wages and Social Protection for All.”
The commemorations provided a strategic platform for the Commission to showcase its mandate in strengthening Zimbabwe’s health workforce and advancing the delivery of quality, accessible healthcare services.
At the exhibition, the HSC engaged a wide range of stakeholders on its core functions, including health workforce planning and management, recruitment and retention, training and development, as well as initiatives aimed at improving working conditions and staff welfare. The Commission also highlighted ongoing efforts to modernise human resource systems and enhance efficiency through innovation and capacity building.
The HSC stand drew notable interest from key dignitaries, including the Honourable Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Hon. Mercy Dinha, Commissioner Angelbert Mbengwa, Public Service Commission (PSC) Commissioner Larry Mavhima, as well as Health Apex representatives and workers’ unions, who toured the exhibition and interacted with staff.
Participation in the commemorations reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to building a competent, motivated, and resilient health workforce, promoting decent work, and ensuring the delivery of people-center health services. The event also strengthened stakeholder engagement and positioned the Commission as a key driver of sustainable health systems aligned with national development priorities.
